We’re getting to the second half of this winter and it is important to take care of our outsides as well as our insidesCold, wind and rain in combination with heating give our skin a rough Winter ride. Skin in the winter gets often dry, itchy and in worse cases chilblains and eczema can occur.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize – daily use of moisturiser will keep your skin moistand protected. Go for oil-based moisturiser rather than water-based, which are more appropriate during summer.
- Use sun cream – it’s not just for summer. Winter sun can damage your skin as well. So don’t forget to apply sun cream 30 minutes before going outside.
- Be nice to your hands – the skin on our hands is much more affected by dry and cold. Therefore wear gloves when you are outside and keep your hands moisturised
- Take it easy with the peels – if you feel your skin is dry avoid peels, masks and all the other products that would cut down the amount of oil in your skin. Focus your attention on “deeply hydrating” masks and products with no alcohol.
- Super-hot bath is no friend your skin – steamy hot baths seem like a great idea after spending a day in freezing cold outside. But very hot water can actually break down the lipid barriers in the skin and lead to a loss of moisture.
