Winter Survival Guide – Tip 5! Sleep well

Did you know that the less you sleep the more your genes contribute to how much you weigh? The more you manage to get 7-8 hours’ sleep a night, the less your genes determine how much you weigh, and the more control you can have over your weight.

But it’s not only that. We learnt a lot about sleep and its impact on human body in last 25 years.  Lack of sleep suppresses the immune system meaning sleep-deprived people have more difficulty fighting off colds and other illnesses. To improve the quality of sleep you should avoid alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes.  The real challenge comes right now in the period of Christmas parties and New Year’s celebrations. So try to keep this in mind when hitting the streets for yet another party.
