Winter Survival Guide – Tip 7: Drink, drink, drink

Dehydration is not just a summer phenomenon. Lack of liquids can cause serious problems in our body also in winter. Even though we feel less urge for drinking our body can lose as much as two litres of water a day.

It is important to keep the same rules for keeping hydrated as in the summer or any other period of the year:

  • Don’t wait until you get thirsty – that’s already a sign of dehydration, keep  a bottle of water close and make sure you drink regularly
  • Monitor your urine – it should be light to clear
  • Drink water all day especially with every meal
  • Have water with you when exercising. Don’t forget to take a bottle with you even when going outside for skiing or exercising.
